Parents who would like to visit the school may attend one of our Open Mornings (on weekdays or a Saturday) or at other times by appointment. James Roche (Principal) and Vania Adams (Head Teacher)  outline the School’s principles and its curriculum, resources and pastoral care, and visitors can then be shown around the school by one of our older pupils.  Vania Adams, James Roche and the Admissions Secretary Mrs Glenis Clark are freely available to answer any questions.

Parents should complete the form and return it with a £75 (siblings £20 each) administration fee. We are happy to accept applications for children of all primary school ages and we need any available information about the child’s aptitude and educational levels. Parents can reserve an offered place by  making a non-returnable payment of the first instalment of the deposit.  This should be done within 21 days of the offer’s date unless we write otherwise. Forms are available by emailing or telephoning the Admissions Secretary.

A non-refundable deposit of one term’s fee is due to secure a place. For offers of a place in the Reception Year, the deposit is due in two instalments. The first part is in the September prior to the child starting and the second part two terms before the child starts. The total deposit equals a full term’s fees. For children in other years the deposit tends to be paid in one instalment. Once the child has started at The Roche School the deposit paid covers the final term’s fees provided that the school office has received on or before first day of that final term written notice of the intention to withdraw the child from the school.

Children interested in gaining a place in Years 1 to 6 are invited to spend a morning or a full day with their  prospective classes so that they can participate in the lessons and meet the teachers, and to ascertain their educational levels.  Prior to their visit, school reports will be required.

In the summer term before the children are due to start, they can spend a morning at the school to meet the teacher and their future classmates. Parents receive an information pack explaining the health charter, arrangements for communication between parents and teachers, the uniform, dates for the coming year, the Early Years Grant (where applicable) and a list of children in the year group for parents who wish to get in touch with each other. There is also a Social Evening for parents and teachers during the autumn term.

We are always happy to answer any questions that parents may have.  Feel free to contact the school if you have any other questions.

STEM Week – Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths at The Roche School

The week commencing 3rd October will be STEM Week at The Roche School, based around the theme of Water. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, so the week will involve many exciting experiments, challenges and construction activities. On  Monday 3rd October, STEM Week will be kicked off by a special whole school assembly centred on the theme of ‘Water’, led by a special guest…Science Man. Throughout the day every class will have a workshop looking at the importance of water, uses of water and water experiments. On Tuesday 4th October we will be holding a whole school ‘Times Tables Challenge’, where every child will compete (with differentiated tables) to gain as many points for their house as possible. Good luck! On Thursday 6th October, The STEM team at school will lead an interactive assembly and award prizes won during the weeks’ challenges.
