The school was out in force to enjoy another hugely successful Summer Fair organised by the dedicated parent-teacher association, Friends of The Roche School (FORS). The children had fun leaping about on the bouncy castle, ‘beating the goalie’ with visitors Virgin Active, and fighting fruit with the school’s Virtual Reality game manned by Mr Ricki. Another hit with the children was the chance to soak their favourite teacher with wet sponges (not to worry, they were only pictures); the coveted prize was aspecially designed medal for the most soaked teacher.
As the day wore on, the maypole dancers (see video below) treated the audience to a fantastic display and Eddie Catz made a guest appearance. Activities galore kept everyone entertained: there was a silent auction, book stall, lucky dip, face painting, and even a last chance to make Father’s Day gifts. The barbecue, delicious curry, and mouthwatering cakes could be washed down with an array of adult and child-friendly drinks.
FORS member Gail was grateful for everyone’s support:
“Thank you very much to everyone who ran a stall, helped out, made a donation or came along and spent money. The silent auction made almost £3000 for house charities. Fantastic!”
We are already looking forward to next year.
