Eisteddfod Thursday 25th May 2017
It’s that time of year again and each year this event seems to get bigger! This year’s closing date is Friday 12th May so get cracking with those entries! There will be different categories including piano, solo instrumental and ensemble (instrumental ensemble and vocal ensemble). Each participant is only allowed to enter a maximum of 3 categories. The Eisteddfod is a music competition for years 2-6.
The categories will be decided once the lists are taken down and will depend on how many children have entered.
NEW GUIDELINES FOR USING BACKING TRACKS
These need to be downloaded onto a device. In the week prior to the competition I will listen and help all those with backing tracks but any person who is not prepared with their performance and backing track will not be allowed to participate.
Please note that it is important to be well prepared and that there is a maximum of 4 people allowed in each ensemble group. The winners of each category will be chosen because of the quality of their performance not the standard and will be performing in our Summer Concert in July.
There is a separate sheet for piano, instruments and ensemble outside the office. Please list your name, instrument and what music you are playing on the correct sheets. It is essential that you mark clearly if you need Gunther to play for you. Most sheet music can be bought at sheetmusicdirect.com. This needs to be done well in advance of the competition in the hope that we can arrange a rehearsal with Gunther.
Parents- You are all invited to attend and support. It will last the whole day but I cannot guarantee when your child will perform! I will put a list up a week in advance and will be able to give you a rough idea (hopefully within half an hour). The piano and instrumental is usually the morning session, starting at 10am and the afternoon session begins at 2pm.
Regards
Katie Woodward.
