Supporting those less fortunate than ourselves is an integral part of The Roche Approach, and we are very proud of our children, parents and staff who are involved in numerous charitable projects throughout the school year. Significant funds are generated for these charities through fun and meaningful social events. Awareness of our selected charitable causes is also raised.
At the full school assembly, Friday 2nd November, cheques of £4,700 were presented to each of our four selected House Charities for the 2017 – 2018 academic year. The four charities that benefit are: Shelter, Welcare Wandsworth, My Life and the Maltiti Orphanage for Girls in Ghana. Thank you to everyone who contributed. Of the £18,800 raised last year, over £11,100 was generated from our annual Run 4 Us event that takes place in Wandsworth Park in May.
The House Charities selected for this academic year were announced at assembly and are: Fraternity Without Borders (Wren House); The Ralph Bates Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund (Eliot House); Age UK Wandsworth (Nelson House) and Evelina London Children’s Hospital (Turner House). Details on these charities can be found here on our House System page. The charities chosen represent local charities and an international aid organisation, Fraternity Without Borders, that is supported by one of our parents. Miss Lydia accompanied the parent to visit one of the charity’s projects in Mozambique at Easter in 2018. Check out this video of Miss Lydia’s visit to see the amazing work that they are doing.
More than £500 was raised at our recent Halloween Cake Sale and the monies will be going to our House Charities. There were some scarily creative creations. Click here to check out our Facebook post to see some of the amazing cakes baked and donated. It was a sell-out with not a crumb left-over!
On Monday 5th November, Mr Pete and Mr Colin delivered a school-bus full of food, that was donated for this year’s Harvest Festival, to the local Salvation Army office. Thank you to everyone who put so much effort into decorating the boxes and filling them with such a range of delicious food. The staff at The Salvation Army were very grateful!
