Cricket fever hits The Roche School

Over the past two weeks The Roche School has competed in 3 Wandsworth district competitions at U11, U10 and U10 Girls Kwik cricket.

U11 Boys - Quarter Finals

U11 Girls - Semi Finals

U10 boys - Bronze medal

The U10 competition was hugely competitive with 17 teams taking part from around Wandsworth. The boys were fantastic in the group stage winning both games and the quarter final easily. The semi final was a classic against Bellville. In a tense finish the boys lost out by just 3 runs to the eventual champions. The opposition coach commenting that we were the best U10 cricket side he had seen all year! Not to be defeated the U10 boys picked themselves up to cruise to a 80 run win in the 3rd place playoff.

Star performer was Angus who scored over 100 runs in 5 innings at a strike rate of over 350! This included hitting 5 consecutive 6s in the group stage.

All 3 teams were also given the opportunity to be coached by high quality profession cricket coaches at Spencer Cricket Club. These include former Test cricketers Alex Tudor and Andrew Hall. It was a fantastic experience for all involved.

The U11s continue to progress well in the Wandsworth Wednesday league, currently in 2nd position.

Well done to the competing upper school cricketers.
