The Roche House system raises over £8000 for charity

This year, our four Houses, made up of Eliot, Wren, Turner and Nelson, have carried out exceptional work raising money for selected charities.  This is the first year of our House system and we are incredibly grateful to everyone for their enthusiasm and commitment to the projects.  We are very pleased to announce that over £8000 has been raised, through a mixture of fund-raising events, particularly through a sponsored cross-country race and various cake sales.

This week, we had a special assembly to celebrate each of the House Charities. Each charity had a representative and was able to talk to the children about how their money is being spent.

Eliot House (or Green House) supported The Children’s Trust in Tadworth, which is a charity aimed at helping rehabilitate children with brain injuries. Tanya Richardson came from the charity to collect a cheque worth £1935.44. This will go towards buying a new wheelchair for a child and taking the children out on a day-trip .

Wren House (Blue) supported Crisis, the national charity for single homeless people.  Moira McCormick is an ambassador for the charity and collected our donation of £2122.53.

Turner House (Red) supported First Touch, the neo-natal unit at St George’s in Tooting. Rochelle Milligan is an ambassador for the charity (and a mum at the school to James Milligan) and collected our donation of £2190.87 from the House Captains.

Nelson House (Yellow)  supported Magic Breakfast, a national charity where children from poor or underprivileged backgrounds can have a good, healthy breakfast so they can go on to achieve at school. Mim MucCulloch from the charity collected a donation of £1806.42.

A massive thanks to the Heads of House, House Captains, Sports Captains, Deputies and of course all the children, staff and parents involved in these colossal fund-raising efforts.
