Science Week

This week is Science Week at The Roche School and we have organised a series of events in
order to engage and stimulate the pupils from Reception to Year 6. The theme of
the week is Flight and the focus will be on deepening their scientific knowledge and skills.
Our week will begin with the delivery of living eggs which will, in due course, hatch into chicks.
There will a web link on the Roche website which will allow you to watch them hatching in the
comfort of your home. On Tuesday there will be a whole school assembly from Extreme Falconry who will exhibit their birds of prey and run a workshop for each key stage.
On Thursday another Science-based assembly will be given by the wonderfully zany and exciting “Rocket Science”. The assembly will whet the children’s appetite as each class will get the opportunity to have a further workshop that day to discover more about flight.
It will be an exciting week and we are looking forward to the children engaging with this important area of the curriculum.
If there are any parents, family members or friends who have a science interest, or background,
and would like to contribute to our Science Week, please return the tear-off slip on the letter which comes home with your child, and return to the class teacher.
Thank you for your continuing support and if you have any queries please contact Theresa Kemball (Year 2) Science Co-ordinator.
