Cycle to School Day
Last Thursday we held our first Cycle to School Day, which included a Biker’s Breakfast and Dr Bike service. We had just over 72 bikes in the playground - which means that nearly a quarter of the children brought their bikes to school. Magda from Sustrans provided yogurt, brioche, fruit and juice to those who arrived by bike and many of the children had a chance to ride our very own pedal-powered smoothie bike. Several staff, who don’t normally come by bike, also cycled to work. We had two mechanics working all day to make sure that each bike was given a service and issued with a Safety Check Certificate. They were very impressed with how well most the bikes were looked after, and only a small number needed minor repairs. There was a real buzz of excitement from everyone on the day and we have since booked more events for the Summer Term, including Scooter Training for the Lower School, a whole school Bling Your Bike Day/ Competition, Puncture Repair Workshops for Years 4- 6 and cycle training sessions. Please keep your eye out for further details.
Many thanks for your support and enthusiasm for these projects,
