PE & Sport
Physical Education and Sport at the Roche School seeks to develop the physical potential of every child through a varied and challenging curriculum. Pupils take part in a wide range of physical activities which range from multi-skill based lessons in the lower school to sport-based lessons in the upper school. These activities aim to develop the whole child in the areas of social, cognitive and physical development.
Sport is taught by specialist teachers and coaches. In Key Stage 1, pupils take part in multi-skill based lessons to develop the fundamentals of movement, which include travelling, stabilising and object control skills. Pupils participate in activities based around the concept of invasion, striking and fielding and net/wall games.
In Key Stage 2 pupils begin to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding within specific sports. Pupils are assessed based on ability, effort and attitude and put into groups accordingly. These groupings allow pupils to be challenged within their sporting ability and take part with similar ability pupils.
Pupils are strongly encouraged to take part in extra-curricular sport. Please read our Extra-curricular/ Clubs page for further details.
