Dear parents,

Our STEM week, this week, centred on Human Biology and offered enriching experiences for all students. Upper School students visited the Centre of the Cell at Queen Mary’s University, participating in an interactive workshop about the journey of food through the body. They also engaged with virtual games and displays in the pod experience, learning about cells and their role in making a human. Lower School enjoyed an in-school workshop that provided a hands-on experience with the digestive system, cells, and DNA. A big thank you to FORS for funding these trips and workshops. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Morwenna Lewis’s talk on Wednesday on ‘‘How smart parents navigate parenting in the digital age” was well attended and we will share the video in due course. She gave some practical advice regarding how to balance screen time for our children. Morwenna is offering a free initial consultation/coaching session to any interested parents. You can book via https://link.morwennalewis.com/widget/bookings/morwenna-lewis/theroachcoachingcall

NEXT WEEK

Next week, Miss Kate will be delivering a Zoom talk on Year 2 Maths 8.50am-9.20am. Kate will outline the Lower School Maths objectives, the methods the children are taught and how parents can help at home. Also on Tuesday, the Spanish Embassy will be coming in to lead Lower School Assembly. We have fostered a strong relationship with the embassy thanks to our exciting Spanish programme.

On Thursday Reception head off by minibus to The Polka Theatre in Wimbledon to see ‘The Snowflake’. On Friday Year 5 will be visiting Holy Trinity Church in Roehampton as part of their Christianity topic in R.E. We will be getting the best china out again on Friday too for my January Birthday Tea Party. Our main assembly that day will be a guest speaker talking about Jewish festivals.
