Dear Parents,

We were delighted by Reception’s endearing performance this morning in their class assembly. The children have been learning about different types of dinosaurs, what they ate, where they lived, and fascinating facts about these incredible prehistoric creatures. They wonderfully shared their learning along with performing fabulous songs and a dance. Thank you to Miss Lydia, Miss Alba and Miss Nikki for making such a memorable show. They have developed so much since they performed in the nativity in December.

Mrs Charlotte enjoyed a very sunny and jolly June tea party this morning in the library – we wish all our pupils with June birthdays a very Happy Birthday!

Year 5 had an enriching trip to The Globe Theatre where they had a tour and found out lots of exciting facts about the history of the theatre and why it has moved three times. They also participated in a workshop where they increased their knowledge and understanding of the play, Macbeth, which they are studying in their English lessons.

On Wednesday Year 3 visited the Shree Ganapathi Temple in Wimbledon to learn about Hinduism. The visit began with time for pupils to quietly observe the temple’s deities and architecture, as well as witnessing pooja (prayer ceremony), followed by the Abhishekam, the daily bathing ceremony of the main deity. Pupils gathered in the adjoining Sai Mandir and participated in an informative talk about Hinduism, the significance of prayer, the different deities, the history of the temple, and its multifaith aspects. The children asked thoughtful questions and engaged well with the discussion. Some pupils had the opportunity to dress in traditional Indian temple clothing and enjoyed juice and biscuits before continuing their learning activities.

Well done to our Year 5 Cayly Maths Challenge participants. The level of questions was very high and the team did admirably. Thank you to Dr Alex and Miss Julie T. who accompanied the team.

This week Nursery have been learning all about the journey to the moon. They experimented to see how craters are formed on the surface of the moon and role played a moon landing using lots of props!

Next Week

Summer hots up next week with a packed schedule of enriching events. On Tuesday, Year 2 will be visiting the Royal Horticultural Society’s gardens at Wisley as part of their science topic on plants.

On Wednesday, it’s the turn of our departing Year 6s to perform their final production to the parents. With an updated take on Grimm’s Fairy Tales it promises to be a very entertaining evening!

Also that day, Mrs Gina will be giving her talk to Year 5 parents on summer learning and arrangements towards the 11+. 8.50am -9.20am on Zoom.

On Thursday, our Nursery and Reception children will enjoy a fun-filled Whacky Water Day! The morning will be packed with exciting water games, playful activities, and lots of opportunities to cool off and have fun with friends. This special event is a wonderful way to celebrate the end of a fantastic year, recognising the friendships, achievements, and happy memories made throughout the year.

Also on Thursday Miss Lydia will be selling ice pops on the ramp at dismissal in aid of the Makimei Children’s Home, Kenya. Perfect timing for the predicted heatwave next week! Last week’s Break the Rules Day raised £417 for our House charity, Regenerate.

Friday sees the annual ritual of Moving Up Day when the children find out their class teacher for next year and spend a morning with them. New joiners will also be attending.

SPORT

A big well done to all our Year 5 and 6s who played cricket against Knightsbridge. We won 5 of the 6 matches and drew once!

Following on from a very successful Run for Us earlier in the term, all money has now been collected. We raised a grand total of £4561.14 which will go to Regenerate. Children ran a total of 1783 laps, a combined total of running from London to Paris and halfway back!

For next year’s Ski trip, Year 5 spaces are filling up for the trip. There are only 11 spaces left so if any Year 5 parents wish to sign up please do so (see separate letter to Year 5 parents).
