Dear Parents,

The Year 4 Assembly this morning was based around their Science topic of Electricity. The children talked about different types of current, static and renewable energy. The presentation ended with a rousing rendition of ‘Electricity’ from Billy Elliot.

Also today, Señor Victor and Señorita Alba led stories, songs and engaging activities with invited children aged 4 and under. It was a great opportunity for the children and parents to get a flavour of what makes the school so special.

We bade farewell to our yellow fluffy friends on Thursday as the ducklings went off to a good home. The children were so excited to see them hatching and growing in just the few days we had them.

In Nursery this week, based on their topic for this term, “greatest journeys” the children enjoyed sharing pictures of all their travels from across the world. They looked at the world map and pinned down the different countries visited. Forest school continues to be a hot favourite; the children collected almost 20 snails and made a soft bed for them using grass and leaves.

The Week After Half Term

The week after half term kicks off with an innovative AI workshop for our Year 5 and 6 children led by Abby, one of our parents who has been trained to provide AI education in schools. Thank you Abby for leading this and raising the children’s understanding of this crucial subject.

On Tuesday, the children will have their photograph taken with their class and teacher. Please send your child to school in summer uniform with their sports kit in a bag to change into if they have gym or games.

On Wednesday, Year 4 travel deep into wildest Dorset for their residential trip at New Barn Farm.  Fossil hunting, climbing, team building activities and meeting the farm animals all await. Fingers crossed the nice weather continues into June!

The zoo comes to school with a visit from Zoolab for Lower School on Thursday morning. Animals include a tortoise, a gecko, white tree frogs, millipedes, cockroaches and even possibly a royal python and a tarantula! The children will learn about how to care for the creatures.

Also arriving next week in Reception will be some caterpillars as part of the children’s learning on the life cycle of a butterfly.  Over the next few weeks, the children will be watching for changes from caterpillar to chrysalis and then a beautiful butterfly. A magical experience.

Little Village collection will take place on Friday 5th June on the ramp. This year the school has donated in total 225kg of items to Little Village so far. A very impressive weight! Thank you for all your contributions.
