Dear Parents,
It was lovely to see how well our new Reception and Nursery children settled on Monday morning into our new ground floor space. Across the school the children have also come back with enthusiasm and purpose. The Roche Approach has been evident across the board! Last Friday I led an assembly for the whole school on the new school year and how change can feel a bit like a pair of new trainers. Sometimes a bit uncomfortable but in time, a perfect fit!
This Friday we invited our two new charities to speak about their work. Carney’s Community is a Battersea-based youth charity that supports disadvantaged and excluded young people aged 11 to 30, primarily in Wandsworth, Lambeth, and Southwark. They use boxing, mentoring and holistic activities to engage young people facing severe challenges, such as poverty, the care system, school exclusion, domestic abuse, and involvement in the criminal justice system. Just Shelter is a UK charity based in Earlsfield, that provides direct aid, education, and community support to refugees and asylum seekers. They support refugees relocated to the London Borough of Wandsworth by providing practical guidance, financial hardship items, and social activities to help them integrate.
Our charity events throughout the year will be supporting these charities and we thank you for your generosity and support in advance.
I hope you found the parent curriculum talks valuable. For those who did not make them, the powerpoints will be shared by each year group. It was very enjoyable catching up with many of you at the social. Thank you to Chef Michael for the canapés and fizz.
