Dear parents,

We hope you had a lovely spring break enjoying the sunny weather we have been having. We are looking forward to an enriching and fun packed term ahead.  Year 6 have already had an exciting time at Legoland today.  This is their special trip to reward the children for all their hard work in the 11+ – a well-deserved celebration of all their hard work in the 11+. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved, both in their exams and interviews. The results have been truly outstanding, including 18 academic scholarships and 11 sports scholarships. This is a fantastic accomplishment and a reflection of the children’s dedication, as well as the support and guidance they have received from our staff throughout their Roche School career. Well done to all involved. We could not be prouder.

NEXT WEEK

Monday 27th marks the beginning of Poetry Week! Pupils from Reception to Year 6 will take part in a range of exciting poetry writing workshops with the amazingly talented poet, Jo Stokes. Sincere thanks to FORS for their generous funding of this fabulous opportunity.

Friday 1st May is the date for our much-anticipated Poetry Recital Competition.  Pupils from Reception up are invited to learn a poem off by heart and perform it in front of the whole school. The standard of performances at this competition is consistently high. We can’t wait to see what your children have in store for us!

Also next week we have our next Roche Tots session for 4s and under in our Nursery at 9.30am on Tuesday. This time the theme is minibeasts and butterflies with some hands-on springtime activities in our Nursery. You can book via The Roche School and Nursery – Visit Us

On Thursday 8.50am to 9.20am, Mrs Melanie our Reading Co-ordinator, will be giving a talk on Lower School Reading open to parents in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. As well as explaining how the school develops the children’s reading and comprehension skills, she will be sharing how parents can support their children at home in enriching and developing their reading. The talk is online at the usual link but will be recorded and put on the website for those who cannot make it. Mrs Helen’s talk on Sex and Relationships Education will now take place on the following Thursday 7th May.

On Thursday morning, our Nursery and Reception classes will be learning about King’s Day, a celebration of the Dutch King, Willem-Alexander. They will be decorating their bikes and scooters with orange ribbons – such fun! Thank you to the Reception parents for giving their time to this event.

On Friday we have our next Little Village Collection. Donations of children’s clothes are welcome.

FORS

Welcome back! We hope you enjoyed the Coffee van catch-up this morning, and we’re looking forward to a great term, with the Summer Fair on 20th June and the summer party on 26th June.

FORS would love your thoughts and ideas for the summer fair. Please do message us (via your class reps) if you have ideas for stalls and if you know any vendors who can help.

Have a restful weekend,

Charlotte and Jonny

Great News!
