Dear Parents,

Year 2 had a lovely time by the seaside on Thursday evening for their big production, ‘Rock Pool’. There were some amazing acting performances and beautiful singing from the whole ensemble. Well done to Miss Kate, Sñr Jon and the rest of the Year 2 team for creating such a slick show which was so much fun!

Meanwhile today in assembly, Year 5 explored philosophical questions centring on the Christian religion. The children were mature and thoughtful in their presentation and ended it with a super rendition of the Carpenters’ ‘Top of the World’.

NEXT WEEK

Next week is our Languages Week led by Mme Annelies and Miss Sophie. There will be a French breakfast for Years 4 to 6 on Tuesday morning and a Spanish breakfast for the rest of the school on Thursday morning. Chef Michael will be providing a Spanish lunch on Tuesday and a French lunch on Thursday. On Tuesday, Year 3 will be going to the BFI on the South Bank for a special Spanish film showing and workshop. On Friday the children will celebrate both languages in a special assembly involving French plays and Spanish poems and songs. We have recently been invited by the Spanish Embassy to run a workshop there so our reputation for language excellence continues to grow.

Next week is also Children’s Mental Health Week. The theme this year is ‘This is My Place’ which is based around belonging – in friendships, in school and our communities.

The emotional foundations of belonging: feeling calm, being heard and knowing there are adults who can help when feelings seem big helps the children to connect to one another and it also empowers them to go out into the world and create positive change.

Also coming up on Wednesday, Year 2 will be visiting the Wimbledon Mosque and on Thursday Year 5 take part in an Apprentice-style challenge at The Hall School, Wimbledon.

Wednesday 9am sees our next session for prospective parents to meet me and tour the school. Bookable at this link.

On Tuesday 10th February, 8.50am-9.20am, Miss Sophie will be giving a Zoom talk on the Spanish language provision across the school. She will also outline the plans for the Spanish immersion classes next year as the oldest year group moves to Year 4. All parents are welcome.

For Year 5 parents, Mrs Gina will be giving a talk on the 11+ process on Wednesday 11th February, 8.50am- 9.20am, on Zoom. This will give valuable insight into the process at school and what actions parents need to take leading up to the exams. Both talks will be recorded and will be on the usual link.

Friday will be Red House Mufti Day as they were the winners of our golden token competition last year.
