What Ages Does The Roche School Serve and What Is the Curriculum?

The Roche School welcomes pupils from Nursery to Year 6, offering a rich and balanced curriculum that builds strong academic foundations while nurturing creativity, confidence and independence. Our teaching follows the National Curriculum, supported by specialist subjects, cross-curricular projects and an emphasis on critical thinking.  Our Nursery programme is inspired by Montessori teaching methods.

Pupils enjoy a broad programme that includes English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Languages, Computing, Art, Drama, Music, Physical Education and an extensive range of enrichment activities. Additionally, we are proud to offer a Spanish Immersion programme from Reception onwards.  Our aim is to help every child develop curiosity, problem-solving skills and a genuine love of learning.

How Does The Roche Prep School Provide Individual Attention Through Small Class Sizes?

Small class sizes are central to our approach. With excellent teacher-pupil ratios, we ensure that every child receives personalised attention, targeted stretch or support and thoughtful feedback.

Teachers know their pupils extremely well, including their strengths, interests, learning preferences and aspirations. This understanding enables children to flourish academically while feeling valued, supported and confident in themselves.

Which Enrichment Activities, Trips and Clubs Make Learning at Roche Special?

Learning at The Roche School extends far beyond the classroom. Pupils benefit from a vibrant programme of clubs, workshops, specialist sessions and school trips that broaden their horizons and encourage individual passions.

Children may take part in:

  • Creative clubs such as art, drama, design and creative writing
  • STEM-focused sessions including robotics, coding and science workshops
  • Cultural experiences such as museum visits, theatre trips and seasonal celebrations
  • Sporting and movement activities such as team games, fitness sessions and dance
  • Residential and day trips that promote resilience, independence and teamwork

These opportunities allow pupils to discover what inspires them and gain confidence in a range of settings.

How Do Sport, Forest School and Outdoor Learning Help Pupils Thrive?

Physical activity and outdoor exploration play an important role in pupil wellbeing. Our School offers a strong sports programme, with pupils taking part in netball, football, cricket, athletics, swimming and more. Fixtures and friendly matches help to build team spirit, determination and confidence.

Our Forest School sessions held in the stunning natural spaces of Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park foster deep connection with nature and offer rich opportunities for cross-curricular learning. Whether building shelters, observing wildlife or learning outdoor skills, pupils enjoy the chance to take safe risks and enjoy the freedom of fresh air and wide open spaces.

How Does The Roche School Support Wellbeing, Values and Personal Development?

Wellbeing is woven into daily life at The Roche School. Our pastoral care system ensures that every child feels safe, respected and supported. The Roche Approach, which stands for Respect, Open-mindedness, Compassion, Humour and Effort, guides our community and helps pupils reflect on how to be their best selves.

Regular circle times, assemblies, form discussions and opportunities for leadership all support children’s emotional and social development. Pupils are celebrated for positive attitudes, thoughtful behaviour and contributions to school life.

This values-led culture creates a warm and inclusive atmosphere where children feel known, encouraged and ready to thrive.
