School Newsletter – 7th November 2025

Dear Parents,

I hope you had a relaxing half-term break. The children have come back with plenty of energy and enthusiasm, likely boosted by the sweets they enjoyed on Hallowe’en! This week, they have been working on their assessments. These, along with the teachers’ ongoing evaluations of their work and behaviours for learning, will contribute to their end-of-term reports.

Today, Andy Smith and Helena Garland joined us in assembly from Regenerate, our chosen school charity for the year. Established in 2000, the charity was set up to work with young people on estates in Roehampton, Putney and surrounding areas. They inspire and support young people by building strong relationships and creating life changing opportunities; these include youth clubs, multi-sport provision and work opportunities in their café. As a result, the provision helps participants grow in confidence, make the best of their lives and impact the world for good.

Today we have our latest collection for Little Village. FORS are kindly assisting with the collection and delivery of items to the hub. It is very much appreciated, thank you.

NEXT WEEK

Next week is national Anti-bullying Week. On Monday, the children have the opportunity to come to school in odd socks to share the message that we respect everyone’s differences and raise awareness of bullying. An optional donation of a pound can be brought in for the Anti-bullying Alliance to help further their work to challenge all forms of bullying.

On Tuesday, we will be observing remembrance at 11am in the school playground. Parents are welcome to attend if they wish, and can enter the main school building at 10:45am. Year 6 will share some readings, and the children will observe 2 minutes silence whilst ‘The Last Post’ is played on the bugle. I hope you’ve had a chance to see the beautiful poppies painted on the front of the school by Miss Andrea and her art club.

On Wednesday, Year 5 go to the majestic Hever Castle as part of their Tudor history topic. There will be a castle tour, workshop and the ever-popular opportunity to get lost in the maze!

On Wednesday at 5:30 pm, Year 1 will embrace their inner Flintstones with a prehistoric Stone Age performance on stage. At the end of the week, Year 2 will present their assembly on the theme of Ancient Egypt. Lots to look forward to!

AOB AND REMINDERS

The big news over half-term was the launch of our brand-new website. Please do have a look. We are very pleased with the new design and the video images that encapsulate the school. Newsletters, booking systems, reading lists and more should also be easier to find. Please let us know what you think!

Just released on the website are the term dates for 2026-27. Please note we have adjusted the beginning of the September 2026 start because we are moving over to a two week half-term in October which aligns with all other independent schools and is increasingly being introduced in state schools as well.

Please remember to bring waterproof clothing for games and coats for playtime, as the weather is becoming colder and wetter.

It is with great excitement that we announce our Sports Day for 2026! We are delighted to confirm that the whole school will be coming together for this special event on Friday 12th June 2026. This year, we will be combining our Field Events Day and Sports Day into one big celebration of sport and school spirit, and for the very first time, it will be hosted at the Wimbledon Athletics Track! It promises to be a fantastic experience for all our pupils, filled with energy, teamwork, and fun. Please be sure to save the date in your diaries and we can’t wait to see you all there cheering on the children and enjoying what is sure to be a memorable day.

Finally, we wish out teachers Mr Ricki, Miss Lydia, Miss Rebecca and Miss Claudette all the very best with the Big Sleep Out at AFC Wimbledon stadium tomorrow night raising money for Don’s Local Action Group. Bring your long johns and your hot water bottle!

Warm wishes,

Charlotte
