Dear parents,

Wandsworth Park has been awash with the school house colours as we celebrate our annual charity sporting event, Run For Us. This year, FORS has kindly sponsored skipping workshops after the children have done their laps of the course. Your child will most definitely sleep soundly tonight! Thank you to all who have sponsored our pupils as they strive to cover as many laps as possible.

On Wednesday, Nursery participated in activities connected to the Indian festival of spring, Vaisakhi. The children made Indian coconut laddoos, dressed up in traditional Indian clothes and danced to Indian tunes.

Lower School on Thursday flew to Neverland to take part in a Peter Pan inspired drama workshop led by Drama4All. Perfect practice for their year group productions!

Today’s assembly led by Miss Rebecca was linked to our Heritage Day celebration (see further information below).

NEXT WEEK

There will be great excitement on the first floor on Monday as our duckling eggs arrive in their incubator. The children love checking on them daily to see if there are signs of a hatchling!

On Tuesday, we are introducing a new celebration, Heritage Day. Children can wear clothes linked to their family heritage and share significant objects connected with their roots. The cultural food stall afterwards sounds especially yummy! Thank you to Mrs Vanessa and Miss Rebecca for organising the day.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, as part of their Geography topic on rivers, Year 5 will be participating in two alternating trips, one to Wandsworth Refuse and Recycling centre and the other sketching the river Thames. Also on Tuesday, Nursery will learn about Dragon Boats as part of their Heritage Day celebration.

On Thursday, Year 3 take to the stage at 5.30pm with a classical inspired take on Theseus and the Minotaur. Expect fearsome monsters and powerful heroes in this rip-roaring yarn.

On Friday, the Rev. David Simpson from our local church, All Saints, will be leading assembly and linking his presentation with our Heritage Day.

FORS

Plans are in full swing for the Summer Fair on 20th June. Each class organises a stall, so please liaise with your class reps – thank you in advance, now all we need is a sunny day!

Your donations funded the new Skipping Workshop, following Run For Us today. A great way to introduce the children to the fun of competition and show them that it’s all about taking part!

AOB

Congratulations to Jack in Year 6 who has successfully been given a space for his artwork in the Royal Academy Young Artists’ Summer Show. There were 25,000 entries so it is wonderful that his piece ‘AI v HUMAN’ was chosen. Well done!

Miss Marcia and Miss Karen will be running half term holiday clubs 8.30am to 5.30pm on Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th May. Activities include arts and crafts, a talent show, dancing chair time, choosing activities, outdoor games, and football. These can be booked via the School Cloud clubs portal.

There are spaces on our Southfields and Wimbledon bus run this term in the morning. Please email Ros on roche.r.holmes@therocheschool.com if you would like to book a place for your child.

Have a great weekend,

Charlotte and Jonny

Great News!

Wow! Over a third of our incredible Year 6 cohort have won Academic scholarships at 11plus. What a result!
