School Newsletter – 28th November 2025

Dear parents,

Christmas came early to Wandsworth this week as the senior choir performed in Southside shopping centre on Wednesday in front of parents and shoppers. It was a taste of what’s to come in our Carol Concert on Tuesday 9th December at 2pm-3pm in St Ann’s Church – looking forward to seeing you all there!

On Wednesday, Reception visited the local library to explore fiction and non-fiction books about various forms of transport. This visit was connected to their study topic and the literacy book “Mouse on the River.”

On Thursday, Year 2 and Year 3 students delved into the culture and history of Ancient Egypt. Both year groups are focusing on this topic as part of our transition to a fully chronological history curriculum across the school. The experience began with a dramatised exploration of an Egyptian tomb, followed by an engaging workshop where the children participated in an archaeological dig with the team!

The accessories stall was a great success on Thursday afternoon. Well done to our Year 6 committee and Miss Lydia for co-ordinating this new charity initiative.

Today’s assembly was led by our Year 6 Eco committee and Miss Rebecca. The children shared their work on environmental adaptation and resilience. They explained findings from a mini urban heat project, showing the school is warmer than the nearby park and discussed how increasing greenery can help cool outdoor spaces. They also presented results from a food-waste experiment, with coffee grounds proving most effective at enriching soil for plant growth and announced their entry into a national “Adaptation and Resilience” competition. Finally, they introduced the Cut Your Carbon campaign and encouraged small everyday actions to reduce environmental impact. Well done team! You are really making a difference.

Congratulations to all 34 children who chose netball this term and participated in matches against Putney High this week. Despite facing challenging games, they all gave their very best effort, and it was great to see them all compete.

NEXT WEEK

Next Wednesday 3rd December 8.50am to 9.20am, Child Psychotherapist Inji Ralph will be giving a parent talk on ‘Helping Your Child Feel Ready for Secondary School’. This talk is open to all parents in Years 4 to 6. Starting secondary school is a big step — exciting, but sometimes a little daunting too! Join us for a 30-minute session all about how you can support your child through this transition. Inji will look at what’s happening in their minds and emotions during this stage, share tips on building confidence and resilience, and talk about what signs to look out for if they’re finding things tough.

Come along to pick up ideas and reassurance to help your child feel calm, capable, and ready for their next big adventure. The usual Zoom link has been sent out via the app.

Our Nursery and Reception children take to the stage on Wednesday at 4.30pm for their Nativity performance, ‘Angel Express’. It’s going to be a heartwarming cracker, I’m sure!
