School Newsletter – 5th December 2025

Dear parents,

Today’s assembly was a Christmas bonanza triple bill with the Reverend Keith Parr and Dr Roche presenting on the meaning of the festive season.  Meanwhile the winners of the Christmas card competition were announced, and the winners received their prizes from Libby Gordon, CEO of FARA, who shared how the Christmas cards are made and what work the charity does. Well done to all the winners!

On Wednesday, our hearts were warmed by the Nursery and Reception Nativity. The children did very well in their first big production, bringing some Christmas sparkle to the audience. Well done to all involved in creating something magical with the youngest children in the school.

Today I also had my December tea party for children born this month. It is wonderful to hear how much the children have been looking forward to this event and a great time was had by all!

NEXT WEEK

The Christmas spirit ramps up to a crescendo in our last week of term.

On Monday, it is Christmas Jumper day with an optional donation to our house charity, Regenerate. And whilst the children are decked out in their most outrageous Yuletide finery, they will be enjoying the wonders of the school Christmas Fair, kindly organised by FORS.

On Tuesday, our Christmas Carol Concert will take place at 2pm in St Anne’s Church, St Ann’s Rd, Wandsworth. It will end at approximately 3pm. Children will be brought back to school who are not collected from the church at the end. There is plenty of space for grandparents too, so all are welcome!

For those parents who will be collecting from the church we will ask parents to exit the church and then classes will be dismissed outside by their class teacher leaving from each of the exits. Mr Gilbert will clarify on the day.

Our popular Equality, Diversity and Inclusion coffee mornings resume next Wednesday, 8.15am to 9am. Señora Vanessa, our new EDI, lead will be hosting the session in her classroom. It will be a chance to review and celebrate what EDI provision is currently in place, discuss future events and welcome questions/suggestions from parents. All are welcome!

On Wednesday, we have crackers and a traditional roast for Christmas lunch thanks to Chef Michael. For Early Years, an Arctic-themed Christmas event with PJs and special snacks awaits. The Roche School Senior Choir will be performing at Putney Exchange from 2:30-3.30pm that day. Parents welcome too.

On Thursday, Wandsworth Nursery is joining Keswick for an in-house production of ‘Red Riding Hood’ performed by Chaplin’s theatre company followed by Christmas activities which include making festive bird feeders to hang in the school’s magical forest camp.

FORS

As we enter the home stretch, or calm before the holiday storm depending on your viewpoint, the children have a busy busy week of Christmas fun; the Christmas Fair is on Monday – a final request to PLEASE buy tickets on Classlist; we can’t put these events on without your support.

Your contributions throughout the year have enabled FORS to put on a wonderful surprise for all the children in the penultimate day of school, 11th December, by hiring the fantastic theatre company Pantomine Play to put on “The Incredible Christmas Story”; but please leave it as a surprise!

Thank you to Katie Crouch and Sarah Goonetilleke for organising the Merry Market. I’m sure your homes are looking wonderfully festive as a result.

The wreath-making event was fantastic – this was such a popular event that we are planning to make it an annual fixture. Looking forward to the next evening of creativity and socialising already.

AOB AND REMINDERS

Thank you to all parents who completed the survey in the last few weeks. We will be collating and analysing the information and will be following up with parents who requested further feedback in the new year.

Next week, unnamed lost property will be on a table by the main gate for parents and carers to collect/check.

An early bird discount is now live for Junior Adventure Group Holiday Club bookings for after we break up in December, giving parents 10% off all bookings with code WINTERFEST10 until 7th December 2025.

I hope you have some time to relax this weekend before the Christmas rush.
