Dear Parents,

You will be receiving this during Sports Day which I hope has been a wonderful day for all involved. Mr Tyrone has been working hard to create a new experience for children and parents combining track and field events and utilising fully the extensive facilities on offer at Wimbledon Athletic Track. Any feedback on the changes are very welcome.

Earlier this week, on Tuesday, there was an explosion of anarchy and joy as the school celebrated Break the Rules Day and combined it with music in the playground (requested by our School Council). Face paint, hoodies, trainers and illicit snacks were all in abundance!

Our UKMT Maths finalists completed the higher rounds of this very high level Maths competition. The questions were extremely tricky and we are so proud of them for getting this far. Results will be known in due course.

The teachers have also been busy this week in progress meetings. These happen each term when the whole team meet together to discuss each child not only in terms of their progress but also how they are doing pastorally and socially. This is then followed up by class and sets teachers in the classroom to ensure the best outcomes for every pupil.

Next Week

Next week, Year 5 head off on Monday to the Globe Theatre in Southwark to learn about Shakespeare’s theatre and to participate in a workshop on Macbeth. An amazing high level enrichment opportunity.

We have our next tots session for 4s and under on Tuesday 9.30am to 10.30am linked to our Spanish provision. Stories, songs and lots of fun are guaranteed. Book your spot here The Roche School and Nursery – Visit Us or via Mrs Ros in the office.

On Wednesday Year 3 go to the Shree Ganapathi Temple in Wimbledon as part of their R.E topic on Hinduism.

We wish good luck to the four children from Year 5 competing in the Cayly Maths Challenge at King’s College School, Wimbledon. Last year we won the title but doing their very best is what matters most.

On Thursday Reception visit Wandsworth Town Library to look at books on dinosaurs and space – their current topics.

Finally on Friday, Reception take to the stage for their year group assembly explaining their learning about dinosaurs and performing a song and dance. Roaringly good fun!

We are very much looking forward to the Summer Fair with dance, singing and Spanish performances by the children plus the teachers’ band rocking the stage again! Thank you to the FORS team for all your efforts in creating this special event.

Later this month, Jessica’s dad, Ben, and eight colleagues are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise vital funds for Dons Local Action Group. This demanding 25-mile trek covers the three highest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales—Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m), and Ingleborough (723m) with the goal of completing it within 12 hours – or under!

We’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact the Dons have on our community. This challenge is all about supporting that work so it can continue to reach those who need it most. If you would like to sponsor him please see the link below.
