NEXT WEEK

Next week sees the first of our special themed days for the children. On Friday 25^th September it will be Democracy Day.  We will have one of our local councillors, Sarah Davies, coming in to talk in assembly about her role supporting our local community and how she was elected to the role. We will also be introducing our new school councillors, recently voted for by their class and children will be doing some activities based on democracy throughout the day.

FORS Update

Coffee Van Man is coming! We’re delighted to confirm the Coffee Van Man will be at the school gates from 8.15am on Friday 25th September, serving up coffee for the school run. It’s always such a lovely way to start the day and catch up with familiar faces, we can’t wait to see you there!

Little Village Donations. The baskets on the ramp are available for drop off at any time. All donations for children 0-6 are welcome (check Little Village website for details on accepted items). Currently they are in particular need of items which children require to sleep safely and comfortably – pyjamas and sleepsuits, story books, sheets and blankets.

Introducing your new FORS Co-Chairs. We’re delighted to confirm Jo Ward and Diana Rendon as the new FORS Co-Chairs. We’re really excited to be taking this on and, if we’re honest, a little daunted too! We have big shoes to fill after the fabulous Rohini and Fiona, who have given so much to FORS and to our school community.

We’d love your help. FORS is only as strong as the people who get involved, and there’s a role for everyone, however much or little time you have. If you’d like to get stuck in, do come and say hello at the coffee morning, or simply let your class rep know and we’ll be sure to get in touch.

Lots to look forward to. We’ve got a really exciting term of activities in the works, and a full calendar of events will be shared with you very soon.

And finally… Thank you! A huge thank you to everyone who has volunteered their time and energy. FORS simply couldn’t run the events and offer the support to our school without this warm and generous community behind us.

We are pleased to invite parents to an information session with tapas/drinks about our Spanish Immersion Programme on Tuesday 29th September, from 5:00pm to 6:00pm in the school hall. This will be an opportunity to learn more about the programme, understand how pupils’ Spanish language skills progress across the different year groups, and meet members of the Spanish team. We look forward to seeing you there.

Miss Marcia and Miss Karen will running our holiday camp the first full week of the October half term from Monday 19^th October to Friday 23^rd October 8.30am till 5.30pm. The cost will be £60 per day and each session will be packed with art, sports and fun-filled activities.  Booking will be available shortly via School Cloud as this club will be run via the school.

As part of our Harvest Festival celebrations, we will be supporting DLAG (Dons Local Action Group) and their work supporting local families and individuals in need.

We will be inviting families and staff to bring in tinned and non-perishable food donations during the week commencing 28th September, with our main collection taking place on Friday 2nd October.

Mrs Gina is looking for parent volunteers to assist with interviewing Year 6 pupils as part of their 11+ preparation. This initiative was started last year and it proved invaluable, giving the children a chance to see what a formal interview with a stranger would feel like. This request is for all parents bar those in Year 6 please. If you are able to help on Friday 9th October between 8:30-9:30 please email her directly at roche.g.gent@therocheschool.com

The London Spanish Book and Zine Fair returns to Conway Hall, London WC1R 4RL, on Saturday 3rd October 2026 featuring renowned writers and publishers, new voices and a curated selection of Spanish-language literature, translations and bilingual works. Down to Earth is this edition’s theme!

A reminder that birthday treats must be shop bought with ingredients displayed due to allergy rules. Please also ensure all children have a school coat for after half term.
