School Newsletter – 25th September 2026

NEXT WEEK

Next week parents are invited to an information session with tapas/drinks about our Spanish Immersion Programme on Tuesday 29th September, from 5:00pm to 6:00pm in the school hall. This will be an opportunity to learn more about the programme, understand how pupils’ Spanish language skills progress across the different year groups, and meet members of the Spanish team. We look forward to seeing you there.

On Thursday 1^st October at 8.50am, Mrs Melanie, our Reading Co-ordinator will be giving a talk on Lower School reading for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 parents. As well as explaining how the school develops the children’s reading and comprehension skills, she will be sharing how parents can support their children at home in enriching and developing their reading.  The talk will be recorded and put on the website for those who cannot make it. We wish our Year 5s ‘bon voyage’ as they set sail for Boulogne and three days of French language learning and fun activities including a boulangerie, farm and the world renowned Nausicaa Aquarium. Thank you to all the teachers supporting this trip.

As part of our Harvest Festival celebrations, we will be supporting DLAG (Dons Local Action Group) and their work supporting local families and individuals in need.

We will be inviting families and staff to bring in tinned and non-perishable food donations during the week commencing 28th September, with our main collection taking place on Friday 2nd October. Drop your donations at the gate in the collection bins. The Year 6 charity committee have put in a target for a collection of 500 tins! The  Little Village Collection will also be taking place at the same time on Friday morning. Thank you in advance!

Sport

Netball – Well done to our U10 sides who played in two tournaments last week making it to the quarter final in the Epsom Tournament.

Football – Well done to all our teams who played against Hurlingham this week.

U11’s – Tigers drew 2-2, Lions Won 2-1 and Panthers Won 5-0

U9s – Tigers won 3-0, Lions Red lost 5-0, Lions Blue lost 2-0 and Panthers lost 5-1

FORS Update

It was lovely to see so many of you at the coffee van this morning! Whether you stopped for a quick chat or stayed to catch up, thank you all for coming along and making it such a nice start to the day.

FORS AGM

The FORS AGM will be held on Wednesday 7th October at 8pm on Zoom. Class reps and FORS members will receive the agenda and joining details directly. Anyone else wishing to attend can contact their class rep for joining details.

Parent Drinks!

Join us for drinks for Class Reps, FORS members, and any parents keen to get involved and learn more about what FORS does for the school. 8pm at the Queen Adelaide pub, Putney Bridge Road, all very welcome!

Pre-Loved Uniform Sale

The pre-loved uniform sale will take place in Hilden House:

– Thursday 15th, 2.30pm–4.00pm

– Friday 16th, 8.30am–10.00am

The sale is one of the easiest ways to support FORS. Huge thanks go to all the volunteers pitching in!

AOB

We are looking forward to many of your children joining us for the Saturday Open Morning on 10th October.  We have a variety of exciting and interactive sessions for the children to take part in. We request children are dropped off at 9.15am and collected at 11am.

We have a general expectation for children to attend unless informed, so please email your class teacher if your child is unable to attend. Many thanks for your support.

Miss Marcia and Miss Karen will be running our holiday camp the first full week of the October half term from Monday 19^th October to Friday 23^rd October 8.30am till 5.30pm. The cost will be £60 per day and each session will be packed with art, sports and fun-filled activities.  Booking is available via School Cloud as this club will be run via the school. The Wandsworth immunisation team will be visiting the school to provide the children with their flu immunisation on Friday 16^th October. Please complete the linked form sent in the letters home section of the parent app to give permission for your child to receive the nasal spray or porcine-free injection.

The London Spanish Book and Zine Fair returns to Conway Hall, London WC1R 4RL, on Saturday 3rd October 2026 featuring renowned writers and publishers, new voices and a curated selection of Spanish-language literature, translations and bilingual works. Down to Earth is this edition’s theme!
