Dear Parents,

What have the Romans ever done for us? Quite a lot, according to Year 3 who presented a wonderful assembly this morning.  They acted, sang and shared some key facts about life in Roman times. They performed as Roman soldiers, supervising road building and wealthy Romans preparing for a feast. Meanwhile a group of slaves wondered if they will ever gain their freedom!

Thank you to the parents who helped out today with our 11+ mock interviews this morning. It is invaluable for the children to have this experience and the parents spoke highly of how our children presented themselves too.

NEXT WEEK

We look forward to welcoming your children back for our Open Morning tomorrow. Please drop them off at 9.15am and collect at 11am via the gate. Many thanks for your support.

Parent/Teacher meetings take place across the week and give you an opportunity to find out how your child has settled into their new year group. Assessment week will take place the week after half term and information from those formal tests will be relayed in the end of term reports.

On Tuesday, a group of Year 6 children will be performing at the Woldingham Choir Festival with a medley from ‘The Greatest Showman’.  We wish them all the very best and I am sure their performance will be outstanding.

On Thursday, Year 3 will be visiting the Science Museum as part of their topic on ‘Magnets and Forces’, participating in interactive workshops on that theme.

On Friday we celebrate the season with Freaky Friday supported by FORS. The children can come in their most ghastly and ghoulish costume. Donations will go to our house charities.

Also on Friday we have the NHS team visiting the school to provide flu immunisations. Please check the letters home section of the parent app to find the information and link to allow your child to receive their immunisation.

That day will also see our next Spanish taster day for children 4 and under in our EYFS space at 9.30am. Please book here The Roche School and Nursery – Visit Us

FORS

Thank you to everyone who joined the AGM on Wednesday this week. It was a really useful session, with good feedback and plenty of ideas discussed.

FORS Drinks

Thank you also to all the parents who joined us for drinks on Thursday. It was lovely to see you. We’re planning a similar event each term, alongside the much-loved coffee van, to give us parents a chance to meet and get to know each other beyond our class groups.
