Dear Parents,
Today instead of an assembly we put the power back in the children’s hands with our very first whole school Pupil Experience survey. Every teacher took a group of children from Reception up to Year 6 and asked them about their experience of the school based on a particular theme or subject. This ranged from History and Spanish to clubs, lunches and growth mindsets. The Senior Leadership Team will look at the results and discuss any relevant actions. Parents will get their chance in a survey later this term.
On Tuesday, a group of Year 6 children went to Woldingham school for the annual choir competition. They performed a medley of songs from ‘The Greatest Showman’ a firm favourite of the kids, participated in some singing workshops and had a slap up dinner there to boot! They sang beautifully and were just pipped to first place by another choir. Thank you to Mrs Katie, Mr Gunther, Mrs Melanie and Mr Lee who accompanied and supported them.
On Thursday Year 3 visited the Science Museum and participated in two workshops linked to their topic of ‘Magnets and Forces’ featuring a medley of fascinating experiments and the science behind the force of motion based on how we travelled in the past. They then explored ‘The Wonderlab Gallery’ for some hands-on, interactive fun.
This week in Early Years, the children have worked together, building new friendships and the Reception children have been great role models for the younger children. To celebrate Black History Month, they baked a cake together to recognise the achievements of Lorraine Pascale who is a baker and TV presenter.
The school is awash with phantoms, witches, goblins and ghouls today as we celebrate Freaky Friday. A big thank you to FORS but particularly our new co-chairs Jo and Diana for preparing the prizes and decorations, also for all their efforts this term in taking on the role with such enthusiasm. They have been amazing from supporting Open Days to organising coffee van man and socials.
