80s Day

It is with excitement that we are celebrating The Roche School’s 40th anniversary this year.
On Friday 3rd November, as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations, the children returned to 1983 when Carmen Roche started the school. Mrs Roche kicked the day off with an assembly on the school’s history, and the children then embarked on some fun 80s dance workshops kindly funded by our FORS parents.
The children were resplendent in 1980s gear which was fabulous to behold – there were plenty of neon colours, legwarmers, tutus, denim jackets and more! Staff, too, looked very amusing! The children were also delighted to receive a special little teddy from the school to mark this important year.

Carmen Roche founded the school in 1983 with five children. The focus on “thorough teaching in a homely environment” was popular with families, and led the tutorial school to grow rapidly. Pupils achieved excellent results including scholarships to top schools whilst having lots of fun – just as they do today.
