Welcome to Early Years
Our Early Years setting provides a safe and nurturing environment where all children can thrive and develop at an appropriate pace. Children join our nursery schools aged two or three, or our Reception classes at the beginning of the school year in which they turn five. We follow The Roche Approach: Respect, Open-mindedness, Compassion, Humour and Effort, which fosters strong values and we recognise that every child is unique and deserving of the highest quality attention in order to fulfill their potential. We encourage all children to express themselves with increasing fluency, build relationships with their peers and enjoy the wide range of opportunities on offer in the learning environment – both indoors and outdoors. Early Years Curriculum
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum. The nursery class follows an integrated approach of Montessori and the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. In Reception the children work towards the Early Learning Goals within the seven areas of learning. Our children work towards and often beyond the government’s Early Learning Goals through a combination of free-flow, play-based learning and engaging discrete teaching sessions. Read more here.
Spanish Bilingual Stream
Spanish is the second most widely spoken language in the world. The Roche School is therefore delighted to be offering an optional Spanish Bilingual Stream class in addition to its well respected English Reception class. Click here to read more.
Exploring Forest School
At The Roche School, we believe that the great outdoors is a valuable classroom. Forest School enables not only educational benefits but also encourages curiosity, self-expression, and collaboration in a safe, and nurturing environment. It’s a vital part of our EYFS curriculum, allowing children to explore and learn in a way that supports their development and well-being. Click here to read more.
Celebrating Diwali
We recently had the most wonderful celebration of Diwali, the festival of light. The Nursery was awash with vibrant colours, as our little ones got to explore the rich traditions of this beautiful Indian festival. Click here to read more.
