We love languages at The Roche School, and in February, we celebrated the two languages taught here – French and Spanish – in our annual Languages Week.
Our Early Years children got up and moving with an exciting Spanish musical workshop from Bilingual Beats, and they enjoyed tasty churros for breakfast. The rest of the school were invited to our pop-up café for le petit déjeuner. Year 5 children were our lovely waiters, and took all orders in French, bien sûr. They were very impressed with how all pupils were able to converse in French, especially the Year 1s! The children also had the chance to join in tasting sessions, and express their opinions. Les biscuits. les gaufres et les madeleines always seem to go down well!
During our assembly, we celebrated our love for other cultures and languages with a dress-up. We saw many great outfits, such as Greta Thunberg, Joan of Arc, and traditional kurtas. Reception children sang the song ‘Buenos días‘, and our Year 6 children were marvellous in their performance of ‘Boucle d’Or’ and ‘Les Trois Petits Cochons’.
It has been a week fantastique/fantástica and we are already looking forward to the next occasion.
