Poetry Week

This week we celebrated Poetry Week with a series of workshops with poet Jo Stokes and a whole-school activity based on the poem The Door by Miroslav Holub.  Our Poetry Week celebrations culminated in a poetry recital competition during assembly.  18 brave performers took the stage and impressed the judges with their confidence, clarity and dramatic delivery.

Our winner in the lower school category gave a lively performance of a poem about a rapping granny.

Our winner in the upper school category gave a passionate rendition of You Are Old, Father William, by Lewis Carroll.

Thank you to FORS for supporting Poetry Week and for providing two shining new trophies in recognition of the children’s achievements.  Well done to all who put themselves forward for the poetry challenge.
